My name is Jonathan Radford and, through my company ecologica, I have been involved in designing numerous, high-profile projects from my base in Siena, Tuscany. We specialise in the creation of low-maintenance, ecological gardens with a strong Tuscan flavour that focus upon reducing water consumption by a massive 80%. I can achieve this by using a system that is influenced by ancient Tuscan farming techniques, by working closely with the lunar-cycles and natural logic. The ecologica system uses principles that have been studied and followed by the ancient Romans, Etruscans and all of our ancestors since agriculture began.
Our philosophy regarding Italian garden design is simple;
- To create and honour beauty in the landscape
- To modernise our views regarding garden design and gardening in general to enable us to reduce work, reduce water consumption yet support indigenous ecosystems, without causing unnecessary harm to this planet.
- To respect the principles on which modern horticultural are based, however, without sacrificing style and elegance. Happy gardening!
