ITALIAN GARDEN DESIGN aims to offer you an insight on designing an Italian garden, either in Italy, the U.K or the U.S.

My name is Jonathan Radford and I have been a garden designer and garden consultant in Italy for the best part of 20 years, designing Italian gardens from the Alps in the north of Italy, to Piedmont in the north west down to Tuscany in the centre of Italy, where I have lived for the past 10 years.

My aim here is to share with you some of the knowledge that I have gained while working here which will hopefully enable you to make your own Italian garden at home, otherwise you can contact me for a site consultation or online garden design.

The choice of Italian garden styles is almost as varied as the choice of Italian cuisine and this is mainly due to the varying soil and climatic conditions throughout the length and breadth of this fascinating Penninsula and a good knowledge of this is essential when making a garden in Italy
